Here it is! The making-of of this pretty woman!

It’s a bit crazy now with all the preparations for Christmas, but I look forward to showing you the backstage of this animation.

Everything started with a sketch I did in my sketchbook.

As you know now, I’m not used to drawing a human character. So when I have a little moment, I practice a bit.

When I finished this lady, I liked it right away!

I loved her expression, looking away, dreaming about her future.

I saw her instantly animate, kicking in the air. Maybe her hairs floating. I thought it could be really poetic.

Also, it’s been a while I haven’t done animation, It was a good moment!

Firstly, I scanned my draw and used it as a reference for my animation in Photoshop.

I could end there, but this time I wanted to push it further

I thought It would be nice to have a style more hand-painted. And actually, It’s something I didn’t try before!

I printed all the frames of the animation, coloured them with watercolour, re-scanned, and replaced them in my photoshop animation.

I had to put each frame in the exact position and kept in mind the order of the frames. This part of the work was a bit boring! Hahaha!

In the end, I didn’t use all the frames I painted. It looked too boiled. So I simply used them when the girl was moving. It’s less distracting.

And ta dah ! It works! The animation is done!

I hope you liked this mini making-of. I really enjoyed doing this animation, I will try to do it more often. Maybe It could be a resolution for next year! hahaha!

Let see! ;)

I participated in the animation challenge Loopdeloop.

Participants make an animated loop based on a theme (this month’s theme is Dog).

It was really fun to do! ^^

Hello everyone! Welcome for this second part of the making of “Cosy”.

Previously we saw how I prepare the project with storyboards and colour research. When everything is ready I can pass to the next step.

PRODUCTION

Now I have the direction of the project, It’s time to do what I prefer: Painting!

I used watercolour. And sometimes I put white reflect with a white pencil...

I paint all the elements separately. Like this, it’s easier after to animat them. Also if I need I can change the framing faster.

Then I scanned everything and I composed my illustration

I used also Photoshop for the animation. It was the first time I do 2d animation. That was a bit of pressure for me, but finally, It came quickly.

I have the background, the animation. It’s almost done!

I add some effects

And ta dah!! You get a cute animated illustration!

The making of cosy is terminated. I hope you liked it and it was interesting to you. Thank you for your support! :)
