Today I want to talk with you about my recent project “ Cosy”.
Cosy is a little Instagram story I did. Every day you found one animated illustration. I really loved to do all these little pieces. It was very challenging for me. I experimented different colour ambience and also I tried 2d animation. It's for sure something I will do again. I want to talk with you about the process of the project. I thought it may be something who could interest you! As I have a lot of things to show you, I split it into two articles. Now, let’s start! ^^
PRE-PRODUCTION
Usually every time I begin a new project, I start by drawing the storyboard on my sketchbook. It’s it who will define the direction of the story. I put all my ideas of framing there. I sometimes already have the ideas of posing for the character.
Then I do some colour researches. For this step, I use colour pencils. I like it because it allows me to have an idea very fast of the designs, to choose the colours...
Sometimes I pass on Photoshop to try my framing. At this step, it’s moving a lot. On the next pictures, you can see the evolution of some shot.
I tried to play with the white border. Sometimes you have an object who is going outside, or sometimes, it’s the object in white who frame the picture.
For this project, I had a lot of difficulties to find the character. As it’s not my favourite part! ^^ She passed by different stages.
Finally, I decided to make her cute but not too much haha! She has warm cloth, a bit lose, to enforce the cosy spirit.
